Composition of the jury

The annual award nomination by European e-commerce professionals
Each year we strive to compose a well balanced jury to provide a qualitative election of the award winners. In November we start looking for jury members and a chairman. In February one chairman is then appointed for each professional award. The final jury composition is eventually established in consultation with the appointed chairman.

International balance
We bring together a jury that involve as many European countries as possible. These countries are represented by cross-border experts that evaluate the nominees from an international entrepreneurial point of view.

The jurors

Criteria
Jury members are professional experts that have a lot of knowledge and experience in the field of cross-border e-commerce. They bring along an international perspective and are an established e-commerce authority in their own country. The composition of the jury must present a fine balance between the specific professional expertise that are relevant for the award.

Personal capacity
Jurors are requested to join the jury as individuals based on personal expertise and international experience. They do not represent a company or organization.

Transparent and independent
Jurors are not employed by a participating party in that award category and have no personal or professional interest in companies that are nominated. If this is the case it must be reported to the jury chairman prior to the 1st round. The chairman then reviews possible interests of the juror and if he finds that this jury member is not impartial, he will communicate this to all jurors. Jurors that are not impartial can't cast a vote on that candidate or participate in the evaluation of the candidate.

Obligation to perform to the best of one's ability
Jurors have the obligation to perform to the best of their ability. If jurors unexpectedly can't comply to that obligation as described in the selection process, they are no longer part of the jury they have been chosen for in that year.

The Chairman
The jury is chaired by a senior colleague who monitors the selection process. He meets the same criteria as the jurors but also has several years of experience as a juror himself. In addition to the monitoring process, he guarantees that all jurors participate in the discussion equally and monitors the compliance with the jury statute.
In the event of a tie the chairman ensures that a decision is being forced. Besides presiding the jury he also contributes to the annual tightening of the jury process and the evaluation of the presentation after the awards.
